About Sparks

Benchmark SPARKS is a “write to influence” contest series that started on 15 November 2013. The cycle continues with an exciting new FOR & AGAINST format beginning on 15 December 2013. Each part of this series focuses on a contemporary business theme. The contest is open only to top B-Schools across India. The list of eligible B-Schools can be seen here.

Why enter the contest?

As a management professional, your professional capability is best expressed through a medium that can reach a large management community. A well written article on a contemporary topic can highlight the width and depth of your professional understanding and communication ability on management issues.

By participating in this contest, you get an opportunity to express your views at a globally recognized online community, the Benchmark Six Sigma forum, which has 45000+ professional members. Selected articles will be featured in the article section of the Forum and winners get cash prizes and/or certificate of recognition. Benchmark Six Sigma Forum is one of the best platforms to start building your personal brand and to engage with professionals from various industry sectors across the globe.

Official Rules

  • Only two (2) members per team are allowed.
  • The write up should not exceed five hundred (500) words.
  • The articles submitted will be made visible on the forum only if it is approved by our moderators.
  • All the articles must be original and plagiarism in the articles will not be entertained. Entries in which plagiarism is found shall be disqualified.
  • If citations are used, author need to include the source of citation.
  • Upon entering the contest, you have to agree to grant exclusive online publication rights of your work to Benchmark Six Sigma. This applies until the website stops existing.
  • Deadline dates may be subject to change.
  • Benchmark Six Sigma reserves itself the right to modify the rules at any time without notice.
  • Benchmark Six Sigma reserves the right to reject entries that are off-topic, irrelevant, offensive, or for any other reason at the discretion of the organizers.
  • Prizes are not transferable.

Rewards

  • National Winner : The winning team shall get INR 8,000 cash + National winner certificate from Benchmark Six Sigma.
  • National 1st Runners Up : The second best team will get INR 5,000 cash + National 1st Runners Up certificate from Benchmark Six Sigma.
  • National 2nd Runners Up : The third best team will get INR 2,000 cash + National 2nd Runners Up certificate from Benchmark Six Sigma.

Important Deadlines

  • Team Registration: 16 December 2013, 09:00 AM IST
    Team Registration has now closed.
  • Write up Submission: 23 December 2013, 09:00 AM IST
    Deadline for write up of max 500 words which is to be submitted to support the stand taken by the team. This needs to be submitted here.
  • Finalist Announcement: 24 December 2013, 09:00 PM IST
    Top three teams on each side as decided by the panel are announced. Their write up is made visible on forum and Q & A rounds begin.
  • Winners Announcement: 7 January 2014, 09:00 PM IST
    Winners are announced on the basis of total scores.
Contest format and sequence

  1. Check if your B School qualifies for this contest by clicking here.
  2. Decide if you wish to participate by arguing FOR or AGAINST the topic.
  3. Choose a team member to finalize a team of two and register by mentioning your preferred stand i.e. FOR or AGAINST the topic.
  4. Create your 500 words write up that puts your arguments favoring your stand concisely and clearly. This needs to be submitted here.
  5. If your write-up clears plagiarism and quality checks, it shall be published on our forum for arguments. You shall progress to winning position through next three rounds if you do well.

  1. After registering your team please follow this link – http://benchmarksixsigma.com/forum/ and click on the “create account” button on the top right corner of the page to register on this site. Alternatively, you can click on the “sign in” button on the top right corner and login using your Facebook or Google account. (Please note: You need to sign in/register using the primary email id provided earlier while registering your team.)
  2. Once you are signed in visit the flowing link- http://benchmarksixsigma.com/forum/. Post your write-up using the “Start New Topic” button appearing on the right side. (Please note: Once you post the write up, it will become UNEDITABLE, will be seen by moderators and will be made universally visible only once it is approved.)
